Just a short dispatch to let you know I’ve got a travel report in the Wall Street Journal on the Swiss canton of Vaud, where I spent six blissful weeks last summer, getting around by road bicycle, e-bike, and the outstanding local train system.

Here’s the link.

The WSJ uses a paywall. Frustrating, I know, but it does allow them to pay freelancers like me a decent word rate. And for that I’m grateful, as magazines and newspapers that actually pay are thin on the ground these days.

With that in mind, my next Substack will be a behind-the-scenes look at my food-and-drink-seeking explorations of the Vaud. (Including a steak-tartare dispensing machine and “Tina Turner,” that gruyère-flipping robot I mentioned.)
